The partnership combines Mercury’s industry-leading access control platform with PSG’s patented technology for embedding Zero Trust directly at the far-edge device — including sensors, door hardware, readers, cameras, and other field devices. By establishing trusted device identity and cryptographically authenticating and verifying field signals, PSG enables physical security systems to move beyond assumed inputs to authenticated, verified data at its source — before that data ever enters the network.
Through its partnership organizations work to reduce cyber risk across operational and physical security environments, confidence in the integrity of field-device data is increasingly critical. Most physical security systems inherently trust their field inputs and continue to rely on decades-old end-of-line resistor (EOL) technology, which was designed to detect circuit faults but provides no device identity, authentication, or signal verification.

In physical security and operational technology (OT) systems, the “far edge” is the outermost layer of field devices — the sensors, readers, cameras, door hardware, and other devices that generate the data on which security systems depend.
In the Purdue reference model used across industrial and OT environments, these devices reside at Layers 0 and 1, closest to the physical world. Historically, physical security systems have trusted the signals these devices report and relied on end-of-line (EOL) resistors to identify conditions such as a cut or shorted wire. While useful for circuit supervision, EOL technology does not establish the identity of the device or authenticate the signal it generates.
Embedded Zero Trust at Layers 0–1 extends cryptographic device identity, authentication, and signal verification to the field device itself, enabling data to be authenticated and verified at its source before it enters the broader security network. This is the capability PSG brings to its partnership with Mercury.
